This will include completely rebuilding the head and forward cabin to include the forward bulkhead. The boat currently has no watertight bulkheads, and I would like to add at least one. Possibly a second one in the form of a chain locker ... WebI would guess that to build a 45-foot sailboat with three watertight bulkheads—resulting in four compartments, which is, I think, the minimum that would give any realistic chance of self-rescue—would add 5% to the cost of the boat by the time you take into account watertight doors and the labour to make every wiring and plumbing run watertight.
