Byte packing
WebJun 11, 2024 · Just let both packing and unpacking return a pointer just past the used buffer. sum () has the wrong semantics for your use-case. You really want std::size_t, and saturating math. Also, if you use a function, use function-arguments not template-arguments. sum_sat () might be a good name.

WebDec 11, 2011 · x86 SIMD has an operation that takes the high bit of every byte (or float or double) in a vector register, and gives it to you as an integer. The instruction for bytes is pmovmskb. This can of course do 16 bytes at a time with the same number of instructions, so it gets better than the multiply trick if you have lots of this to do. WebMay 29, 2024 · Packing an array of bytes into a single variable is just as easy: module example_1_2; initial begin static bit [ 7: 0] array [ 4] = ' { 8'h8C, 8'h00, 8'hA4, 8'hFF }; static int value = {>> {array}}; $display ( "value = 0x%h", value); end endmodule 2. Reverse the elements of a byte array and pack them into an int
WebJul 19, 2024 · So I guessed bit packing would be the simplest way to compress it, so every byte can be converted to 2 bits ( 00, 01 ..., 11 ). As mentioned, all elements of value 3 can be removed (i.e. saved as 0), which gives me option to save '4' as '3'. While reconstructing (decompressing) I restore 3's to 4's. I wrote a small function for the compression ... WebThe Byte Pack block converts one or more signals of user-selectable data types to a single uint8, uint16, or uint32 vector output. WebBit packing is a compression technique in which unnecessary bits are removed from the data we want to compress. As an example, say you want to serialize someone's age. …
