Monophonic music can also be called monophony. This texture is used very little in music of the Western European tradition after the Middle Ages. Examples of Monophony WebMost instrumental arrangements are combinations of monophonic and polyphonic textures. This combination is referred to as monody. Adding or removing these different textures or instruments at different times during a piece of music is a massive part of what creates dynamics in an arrangement.
